A few well-chosen organizers make the R2 much easier to keep tidy. A tray keeps small items accessible in the console, a folding bin stops grocery bags from sliding around the cargo area, and pouches keep spare cables and supplies together. Start with whatever you already carry and the places where it tends to pile up, since you may only need to address one or two of them.
Keep everyday items in the console
Sunglasses, cards and a pen are easier to find near the top of the console, while larger items and spare cables can go in the deeper bin. We make the Squared Away Console Tray for this purpose in two layouts: 3 Compartments, with three equal sections, and 5 Compartments, with separate spaces for sunglasses, a pen, cards, cash and a multi-purpose slot.
Both trays lift out when you need the storage below, and our console guide explains how each layout works with the drawer, USB ports and cupholders. For the drawer itself, the Slide-Out Drawer Tray keeps snacks and small items from sliding around.
Use a folding bin for groceries
A small cargo organizer keeps shopping bags and loose supplies together, and handles make it easier to carry into the house. A folding design is useful because it packs flat when you need the whole cargo floor. Measure the space with the seats in their usual position, and check that the bin fits through the opening without covering a compartment you use.
Please secure heavy items as described in the vehicle and accessory instructions. A grocery organizer can keep bags upright, although it is not designed to restrain heavy equipment.
Keep small supplies in pouches
Spare cables in one pouch and cleaning cloths in another are easier to find than a single mixed bag, especially if you use different colors or simple labels. Choose pouches small enough to fit where you want them while still leaving room to close the compartment. Several small pouches are also easier to move between the car and the house than one large organizer.
Store charging equipment where you can reach it
Keep your phone cable separate from any portable vehicle charging equipment. If you carry a charger and adapters, choose a case that holds them without forcing the cable into a tight bend, and follow the manufacturer’s storage instructions. Before a trip, check that you can still reach the charging equipment once the car is loaded, since it is easy to pack it first and then bury it under everything else.
Leave access to emergency equipment
Keep a flashlight and other emergency supplies in a consistent place, and make sure anyone else who drives the car knows where they are. If you carry Rivian’s R2 Compact Spare Tire, leave clear access to its compartment and review Rivian’s instructions for compatibility and use before you need it.
Choose storage you can remove
Removable bins and pouches suit an R2 that handles commuting, shopping and weekend trips, because you can take a set out of the car when you do not need it. A fixed organizer may make sense for gear that always stays in the car, but check first that it does not block a compartment or interfere with the seats. Look for photos of it installed in an R2, and do not assume that an accessory shaped for the R1T or R1S will fit.
