The accessories worth buying first are the ones that solve a problem you notice every day. For most new R2 owners, that means a place for small items in the console, a plan for charging at home and a few supplies for keeping the car clean. Mounts, roadside gear and camping equipment can follow as your routine takes shape, and our checklist for new R2 owners puts these steps in a practical order for the first few weeks.
This guide covers products we sell at Cargonaut Supply. We design and make the Squared Away trays ourselves, and the other products come from makers including EveryAmp, BLACKLINE, HEST, MOJAB and Anker. It is a practical guide to our own range rather than an independent review of every accessory available for the R2.
Which accessories should a new Rivian R2 owner buy first?
Choose around the problem you want to solve. Here are starting points from our range, alongside essentials to consider elsewhere.
- Organize both console spaces: the Cargonaut Squared Away Console + Drawer Set pairs a removable console tray with a separate drawer organizer.
- Give everyday items dedicated places: choose the 5-compartment console tray for sunglasses, a pen, cards, cash and a multi-purpose slot.
- Keep the layout flexible: choose the 3-compartment console tray for three equal open sections, or the Slide-Out Drawer Tray if you only need to organize the drawer.
- Set up the rest of the car: plan charging, choose R2-specific floor mats, then add cleaning supplies, roadside gear and mounts to suit how you drive. Cargonaut Supply does not sell floor mats.
Our trays are designed, printed and inspected in Chicagoland, USA, in PETG-CF. They are aftermarket organizers designed for the R2; Cargonaut is independent of Rivian.
A place for small items in the console
The R2 center console is deep, which is useful for larger items but means that sunglasses, cards and a pen tend to sink to the bottom. A tray that sits near the top keeps those items within reach and lifts out when you need the space below. Both of our console tray layouts fit every R2 trim and install without tools or adhesive.
The 3-compartment Squared Away Console Tray has three equal sections for items that change from day to day, while the 5-compartment tray has separate spaces for sunglasses, a pen, cards, cash and a multi-purpose slot. Our comparison of the two layouts explains the differences in more detail. For the drawer beneath the console, the Slide-Out Drawer Tray keeps snacks and spare cables from sliding around.
Charging at home and on the road
For most owners, charging at home is the most convenient option, so it helps to plan the setup before you need it. If you are installing a Level 2 charger, you can find an electrician through Rivian, whose installation partners connect owners with licensed electricians in their area. The Level 2 chargers in our EV charging collection use the NACS connector, the same charging port as the R2, so they plug directly into the car. For road trips, the LENZ CCS1 to NACS adapter lets the R2 charge at public DC fast chargers that use a CCS1 plug.
For your phone and other devices, the cables and power banks collection has USB-C cables, compact wall chargers and portable batteries.
Mounts made for the R2
If your state requires a front license plate, EveryAmp makes two mounts for the R2, the SnapPlate Front License Plate Mount and the Tow Hook Front License Plate Mount. They attach in different ways, so please read the maker’s installation notes before deciding which one suits your car. EveryAmp also makes a back seat tablet and phone mount anchor, which the maker lists as compatible with the R1T, R1S and R2.
Supplies for keeping the car clean
A small set of cleaning supplies covers most routine jobs, and it makes sense to start with the tasks you do often rather than buying every product at once. BLACKLINE’s Reset Interior Cleaner, Crystal Glass Cleaner and Waterless Wash, together with a Slim Twisted-Loop Drying Towel, make a practical starting set.
These are general car-care products rather than ones made for the R2, so please follow Rivian’s care guidance and each product’s label, particularly on screens, upholstery and trim. The full range is in our car care collection.
Roadside and recovery gear
Before adding equipment, check what came with your R2 and make sure you know where it is stored. A tire repair kit, a portable inflator and a first aid kit are sensible additions, and our roadside and recovery collection includes the MOJAB 98-piece Tire Repair Kit and the MOJAB 151-piece First Aid Kit along with inflators and recovery equipment. Please check each product’s ratings and instructions, and get suitable training before you use recovery gear.
Camping and travel
For nights away, HEST makes the Foamy camping mattress, the Camp Pillow and Pro Travel Pillow, and both a Comforter and a Down Comforter. HEST products are general camping gear and are not made specifically for the R2, so measure the cargo area with the seats folded and check the size before you order. The rest of the range is in our camping and travel collection.
Floor mats
Although we do not sell floor mats, they are worth choosing early, especially if you drive in snow, mud or sand. Look for all-weather mats made specifically for the R2, follow the fitting instructions and avoid stacking one set of mats on top of another on the driver’s side.
How orders ship
Our Squared Away trays ship from us within 1–2 business days. Products from other makers ship directly from those companies, so they may arrive in separate packages, and their shipping charges and delivery estimates appear at checkout. You can browse everything we sell in all R2 gear.
